I have a year old Chocolate Silkie, who started exhibiting symptoms similar to molting last Monday 11/24/25. Before anyone asks the obvious. There are not vets in our area that do anything for chickens.
We kept an eye on her and brought her inside to keep her warm and comfortable. She was still eating and drinking, her feces was liquid but no blood and it had a green color to it. We began to treat for Coccidiosis and gave her some nutrients and vitamins to give her a boost. The next day she started what I would describe as twitching her head with her eyes closed severely in the same motions repeatedly. It seemed like a neurological injury but with no apparent signs and nothing observed it’s hard to say. We decided to do assisted feeds and hydration every 4-6 hours. Possible Wry Neck we thought so we treated her with the Selenium and Vitamin E Gel. Along with the Corid. This seemed to help briefly. We now notice that her crop seems full but not like sour crop. She is 1.5 lbs and seems stiff and is definitely lighter than she was a week ago of course. Her poop has stayed this pale green color and very runny but no blood. We have a vet we can get to tomorrow with some travel to either treat her or end her suffering. However, wanted to see if anyone else out there has experienced this. Thank you.
