I recently bought a silkie hen and it looks as though she came down with a cold. She is sneezing a lot, she makes a bit of a bunged up sound as she breaths. I thought it was just the flu.

However, she also has bloody droppings, and has lost a lot of weight, she sleeps a lot, though she was a lot worse, she does actively peck around now, but I still catch her finding quiet places to sleep every now and then. It appears as though her condition has improved a bit.

I've been taking her to the vet, he has been injecting her with antibiotics, he thinks she has a chest infection, he does know about the bloody droppings too.

When I bought her I also bought a silkie cock, originally it was him who got ill, he was sneezing, wheezing etc for a few days, the vet gave him an antibiotic jab and he seems completely better now, no signs of illness atall. He never had bloody droppings though.

Can anyone offer advice on what might be wrong with the hen? Could it be just a cold which will clear up or do the bloody droppings mean that something else might be the problem here? She has had bloody droppings for probably 10-12 days at least now and my other chickens are all fine.
