Thanks for all your help, here is a picture of how ive wrapped her foot for the past 5 days


Ive been soaking it in an epsom salt bath daily and re-wrapping it. I can say already that the amount of infection on the gauze pad is lessening daily and the smell is much much less. Its actually starting to scab over around the edges of the wound. I'm so happy she seems to be getting better.

She also really enjoys her daily foot soak

My Silkie has the same issue. Always. If I put Vaseline on her feet every day, the growth doesn't happen. If I slack off, then one grows...rather quickly. If I put Vaseline on it every day, then after about a week it falls off. Then I put Neosporin on it for a couple of days. Also, when I put the Vaseline on, I do it at night. This way, while she fluffs up and rests for the night, her body heat helps to soften the Vaseline/growth.

I'd like to know what causes it though....
