KV Silkies... yes, glad to have a hatching partner too!

I see your animal collection listed. I too have lots of critters. I am thinking about naming my animal area The Critter Corner...
I have one pot belly pig (4 months old) named PETA, two pigmy goats, two fantail pigeons, 7 chickens with more on the way, an outside cat, two dogs, an angora rabbit named Shaggy and an African Grey Parrot named Echo. Oh, my youngest son has a hedge hog named Amy. Amy is actually in my lap as I type. Hmmm, MY lap!

I think that's it!

I have 5 dogs, 6 cats, 1 bunny, 5 Silkies, 11 Polish, 8 Orpingtons, and about 50 misc chix in my egg laying pen! Also a 16 year old daughter who thinks I nuts but a lot of fun!

oooh, a hedgehog! that sounds sooo cute! we get to pet them at the zoo near us once in awhile, how hard is their care?

I do my 7 day candle/weigh tonight, looking forward to it! at day 5 we had 19 going strong! woohoo!

that DOES sound like a lot of fun!

I grew up on a farm with tons of animals, so want my kids to have the same experience, plus I think I still want all the animals too! am soooo excited to get my silkies hatched!!!

I'm still here. I have been so busy with the petting zoo plans! I got my business license a couple days ago and added a new member to our family! Everybody meet Matilda!

As for eggs, I have 15 quail ends in the incubator but my incubator is rrunning horrible right now. I am going to buy a new thermostat and I just bought a little giant egg turner. Hopefully I can get it dialed in because I would like to try and hatch silkies again!

what kinds of quail eggs are you doing? I have been researching them and thinking of trying some coturnix quails perhaps sometime later this year, gotta get my silkies going first!

Congratulations! Very nice! When I hear petting zoo it reminds me of the scene from Mrs. Doubtfire when the animals were all over the house and the kids were partying. It sounds like a lot of fun. When my little one was small we did a b day party at our local zoo. It would be soooo awesome for children's parties! Best of luck with the start up!

7 day weigh/candle last night, of my 19 viable, still have 19 a go! woohoo! will cull the clear ones (and have one blood ring) on day 10, but would be really surprised if something came of them. my kids are going to freak out when hatching day comes if we get even half to hatch ok!!! and we are all home that day! they have a dentist appointment in the morning, then we will be home rest of day, so my oldest won't have school, sooo hoping for some good hatching for them!!! (and me too!!!)
