The other chicks (they are now 5 weeks old) keep pooping all over the silkie.. is there any way I can bathe it? We are new to chicken world.

I was letting it go, but now it's so bad, the entire one wing is covered in poo. I know the poor thing will hate me trying to clean it- but it's been a couple weeks, and it's not cleaning it, itself...

I wash my silkies with baby shampoo and warm water in a plastic tubberware and use a old toothbrush to get it all out

IF you choose to bathe it, make SURE its in warm water, and that you put it in a WELL HEATED area to dry....

I think it's the nature of the Silkie's feathers. Poo must cling to them more easily than with normal feathers, which are evolved to tend to shed dirt and gunk.

My stupid meaties always poop on each other too. They just poop wherever they are. If another bird is behind them they get pooped on. lol
