Silkie June/July Hatch-Along!

Well, after we took alway all Lola's distractions (sandpit, chicken-watching window, iPhone,) she got down to business and has been on her nest whenever I check on her (she must be getting water since I refilled it today). Today 2 eggs have been pushed out of the nest and broken, I guess she knows something I don't. Candled 3 white eggs and I see movement in each! My 8-year-old son is thrilled.

Hey, just picked up my eggs, and they are a LOT smaller than I expected. Will this be a problem?

If it's bantam they are pretty small.

If they were laid by pullets/hens that have laid multiple eggs before those ones I wouldn't worry

Mine are about half the size of your average chicken egg.

Yup! I’ve hatched lots this year... not just silkies. I have an addiction.

It would be their sixth day of development and the incubator has an automatic turner.
