Hello backyard chicken friends, one of my Silkie girls suddenly had some issues today. I’m sorry if this is long. Thank you for reading in advance.
So not really sure what’s going on right now with this little one. She’s about 12 weeks old. Purchased her from Ideal Poultry a long with 2 other silkies. All are Mareks vaccinated.
So I go outside a few hours ago to watch my chickens and I heard some distressed squealing coming from my silkie run. I quickly go over there and find her with her legs sort of splayed and her wings were sort of hanging down. Her neck was up though.
So, I picked her up and she immediately freaked out and started flapping her wings and seemed extremely scared of me
. She managed to fly off onto a table that was next to me. I picked her up again off of the table and she did not freak out again. From that point on she’s been pretty listless and hasn’t really walked. She can stand/perch. She mainly keeps her eyes shut unless stimulated. Her neck tends to slowly droop down (no twisting) but will bring it back up when stimulated. We tried dipping her beak in water but she did not drink. The rest of her flock mates are fine. I’ve never witnessed any bullying amongst them either.
Any idea what’s going on? These pics are of her now. She is sort of laying on her side. Her head has dropped down. She will stand and bring her head up if you stimulate her but not much else and she will go back to this same position. Have yet to see any poop.
