The other day I had to go to the feed store and pick up some more chick feed, and could not resist checking out the chick room.... Well....I ended up walking out with 2 Blue Silkie chicks, both one day old. I wanted to get one of every color, but the buffs/blacks and whites were all reserved. Anyways, I was checking them over last night and noticed that one chick (the lighter one) has 5 toes on both feet- plus it's head has a little fluff bump that sort of reminds me of the polish chicks I saw. The other chick (the darker of the two) has 5 toes on one foot and only 4 toes on the other- is that normal, or is this a mixed chick or what? This one wasn't very active after bringing it home, so I have been giving it egg yolk every once in a while and it has drastically improved!! Went from not opening its eyes and barely walking around to running all over, drinking and chirping! Anyways, I know it is hard to sex silkies so I won't even ask....but I would like to know what the deal is with the different number of toes on each feet?? I will try and get some good pics of the tiny fuzzy guys later!
