Hey guys,
I have these silkie mixes i got from a friend, and i wanted to clarify what breeds they are mixed with. So, here are the options:
Dad:
Golden Laced Cochin
Mottled Cochin
Mom:
White Silkie
White/Buff Silkie

I'm pretty positive the dad is a Golden Laced, because you can clearly see the lacing on one of the pullets. It's more than likely the mom is the White/Buff mix, because she is the one that hatched them. But, i just wanted your opinions! Thanks!

I would just say silkie Cochin mix. Since you don’t know the background history of the parents you don’t know any hidden colors. White is often split to black. And white does to show up in silkies unless both parents carry it. So some of these could be from each mother.
Also just because she hatched them does not mean any of these belong to her. Others lay in the nest and often broodies will go steal eggs.

The gold-laced is definitely the father. Silver isn't completely dominant, but most birds with a silver gene will look completely silver. If their father was the silver, the offspring would at least appear mostly silver.

Can't judge on the mother, as recessive or "silkie" white can hide a lot of color patterns, as stated above. However, if any have four-toed feet, the silkie probably wasn't their mother.

My friends also has another hen, White Silkie, that has 4 chicks. They are all black and white, so definitely the Mottled as a dad.
They all have 5 toes, and one has a Walnut comb.

They’re lovely! Any ideas about mine?
