Silkie people: bleaching yellow feathers white?

Marigold makes the yolks a deeper yellow.  THAT is what it is doing in chicken feed.

I did google and found that out in the meantime, thanks, though! But, if it really does do that, then why are grocery-store egg yolks so pale? Assuming commercial feed is also laced with this stuff, that is.


Anyway, I'm glad to know about the potential causes for the feather yellowing, so thanks, everyone! I was contemplating bathing Hedwig but I think I'll start by switching my feed first.

I have a silver laced Wyandotte roo and it seems like his silver feathers r carrying a sort of green tinge....Almost like what grows on the siding. He's a handsome and functional Roo. Love him dearly. No health issues. Just would like to b able to get him gleaming! They do forage in my wooded land and a lot of shaded areas.
