Ok ...I can see I am going to have to drop that platform down more and as well build a box to fit in under it to shelter from any sideways rain. The area under it is all open hardware cloth. Then the ramp wont be so steep for the other bantams either. Thank you for posting pics of yours!

If your platform has a droppings board, can you leave it for the other breeds and just add on to your coop for the silkies? It is such a nice roost. (In other words, it won't rain poo on top of the silkies?)

No I was going to use a system of perches to get them up to the platform (instead of the ramp which is too steep and takes up too much room) which would have shavings on it so they can bed down in there...... arrrgh

Of my 20 some silkies, I only have one that will perch. She's up there with my cochin bantams. I have a bench they jump on first with is about 20" or so high and then they hop onto the perch which is maybe 12" higher than that. The rest sleep in the straw on the floor in a pile.

Mother dear (ChooksinChoppers) Never fear! Squishy to the rescue!

We haven't build that whole nest box arrangement yet... so lets put it in that corner under the current platform... I have a plan for it and you shouldn't have to worry about your rain...
Then we could use some wire and make that top area a big brooder as well.. I have some plans for that
