Hello everyone, In need of some advice/help due to a poorly silkie

We started to notice that she kept closing her eyes and just sitting down on the ground for around 5/15 seconds before opening her eyes and carrying on for say 10 steps and doing the same thing, she has been walking very oddly as well not the normal steps or running
She has hardly been coming out of the coop, hardly eating or drinking which has caused for concern, the other silkies we have are all fine laying eggs eating drinking.
The other silkies haven't been bulling her or anything like that, so we are really unsure what the problem is and was hoping that anyone could help us please?
We have bought her inside tonight to keep her warm and of course keep a check in her
So please do read and reply to this as we are really stuck in a runt and would love help and advice

Many thanks
Silkie01

How long has she been acting like this? How old is she? She could have worms or mites, or be egg bound among other issues. Please post this in the Emergencies, disease and injuries forum.

She has also been closing her eyes, since we bought her in making a few noises but nothing like normal, if anyone can help would be much appreciated

You recently purchased her... so is she very young?

You need to help us to help you out here ... Drumstick posted some pertinent questions.... can you please give us some answers to her questions?

The more information you can supply can help people here to give you a response and maybe some ideas to help her get better.

Thanks!

OK... I just read another thread where you posted about a 2 year old Silkie......assuming this is the same chicken... it is probable that she has one of the following problems ( as drumstick diva has already mentioned )

Mites/Lice Infestation

Worms

Egg Bound or Internal Laying

You can

! ) Treat for mites/lice...using Sevin/Permethryn.. dusting chickens, coop and nesting boxes

2) Treat for worm Infestations

3) Bathe her in warm water and feel her to see if you can detect swelling...pulsing vent or anything that seems untoward

PLEASE do post here with any further information... there are so many people here with a wealth of advice that can help you to help her...
