My silkie pullet has been brooding babies. She is only 5 months, but she loves the babies. I added them to the coop yesterday. I put up a board to form a wall to hide from my hens until they get used to them. I found them today, and they had knock over the board and picked the silkie's feathers to the scalp. I washed it with her shampoo w/tea tree oil added. I then used neosporin/pain relief. I know the feathers won't grow back, but will it heal? We have now bumped our silkie house to the top of my project list.

Unless they actually scalped her, the feathers should grow back. I had this happen to one of our silkies roosters recently and his are growing back. So your pullet should heal just fine. Keep an eye on it of course, making sure it doesn't get infected or anything.

Thanks. She is doing well today. She is eating and drinking and seems content with the babies. That is where she is staying until silkie coop is done.
