So, I have another question concerning my 8wk old silkie: I am planning to get her a friend or mother since she has been living solo for a while. I found an add for a silkie who is almost laying, and I was wondering if it would be practical for me to get it. Do you think that silkie would adopt mine and maybe protect her? It would be nice for mine to have a "guardian" so I wouldn't have to worry about her so much when she is outside. Also, I plan to make them a separate coop (I already have 4 outside girls, who won't except my silkie). Thanks in advance!

A roo her age and breed might. He would be a better guardian than a hen.
You might want a hen saddle for the little lady in case she gets too much attention. Also, chickens tend to stick with others of their color, so you might get a matching pair.
