silkie question updated**

I've only had them a week, and when she first got here, could barely shuffle- i have her on polyvisol, vit e, B. The lady i got them from had gotten them from a breeder who sold the dark one as 'pet quality' since she only had 4 toes, they were put in with standards and these two refused to come out of the coop- i am guessing the splash has been protecting her-

Oh, poor little dear. Seems a bit, um, inappropriate to sell her as pet quality when she has such a disability. Have you heard of Avia Charge 2000? They sell it online at Murray McMurray and Strombergs, probably other places as well. It has lots of vitamins, minerals, etc, in it that really help. Silkies seem to be sensitive to vitamin deficiencies. i've had several silkies that do the "head wobble" thing, and that clears up with the Avia Charge.

Also, i don't think it's a good idea keeping silkies with standards. Because they have the open skull, a head peck could kill them. If they are raised together they may be okay. But i keep mine separate.

You are very sweet for caring for her.

I'll check for that Aviva, i just lost 2 silky chicks - one went paralyzed and tried for a month but he finally lost his battle, then his hatchmate was found dead by my husband while i was out of town, just broke my heart. Hubby suggested we needed a couple more, they are house chickens, with my duccle. they live in my art studio, except when i take them outside for 'sun therapy' and cuddling. i have lost my heart to silkies.

Just a little update on my girl, i have been giving her vitamins, a couple nites ago i began giving her a pinch of asprin in case her leg hurts her, ACV in the water, well, here she is today,

i was feeling her 'knees' and trying to compare, got to wondering if she had injured that left leg and it healed wrong, it is larger than the right knee, but doesn't feel soft

She looks more to me like she is hurt, and she does act like she is in pain. She seems to be panting when she tries to walk. Poor baby.
