I got seventeen White Silkie Bantam's from the JM hatcherie (They are two months old right now) and some of them have Walnut combs, and other's have single, and some have none at all. Why dosilkie's have different tipes of combs?

they do not have to be crossed to another chicken to have single combs. it's a fault that is very common in hatchery birds. the ones with visable walnut combs are probably gonna be cockerels and the ones that look like they have none are probably pulletsCould you possibly post pictures of the various combs. I have never had a silkie with a single comb. They would have to be crossed with another type of chicken.
