My DD has a black silkie hen. She (not my daughter) is sooooo quiet. Is this normal? Do the silkie roos make a lot of noise? She would like to get another silkie. Blackie just not seem to fit in with the other chickens which are all mutts.

I do not want a rooster that crows! The neighbors may not like me too much!

Hi Michele... I hate to say it, but all 3 of my roosters are LOUD. I have to keep them inside at night so they don't make too much noise. The hens ARE quiet, though.

Bummer. Looks like I will need to find another silkie female room-mate! I guess I will need to get some more of your eggs!

It depends on the roo, some are naturally quiet, others can be very loud.

my one hen is very very loud and makes noise day and night lol

I have one hen that is a squawker, and one that's nearly silent. I think it just depends on the personality of the chicken.

Tori,
You are one "evil" woman! I will try to get some eggs from you. First I have to try to find another incubator! Maybe I can borrow one! The buttons are in mine, thanks to your extreme kindness. I also want to get more of your Coturnix quail. I just love them. They are so sweet.

Seriously, I'm up to 9 eggs, and I CANNOT hatch any more silkies this year. I have Millies and Light Brahmas saved up to go in tomorrow, then THAT's it. I guess I'll have to start eating more of my own eggs...
