Hi everyone! My husband bought me a couple of Silkie chicks for my birthday last month. They were the same size at a couple days old when we bought them. But one is much larger than the other and has started getting feather tufts on its head. Is it too early for streamers to appear? Is the size difference an indicator of gender or is this something that they both will eventually get as Silkies? I’ve named them Duchess and Dolly but I’m wondering it will turn out to be a Duchess and Duke.
Smaller chick eats, drinks, poops and seems happy-just isn’t growing as fast as the other.
Also their wing feathers are very scraggly looking. Is this just an awkward phase all Silkie chicks go through or does this indicate frizzled or satin feathering? Thanks in advance!
