So two out of the three Silkies that I got from a breeder actually turned out to carry the silkie feather gene. I was wondering what do you call a silkie that isn't, well, silkie. Talked to the breeder and she said they should carry the frizzle gene so maybe I can get that out of them. At least they are friendly and funny to watch like regular Silkies. Really hoping there true silkie sibling is a girl but guess I won't truely know for awhile. They're still pretty yonge.

The first two are mixes, not actual purebred silkies. They have single combs, which is not a silkie trait, and of course they don't have silkied feathers. The last one might be a purebred silkie.

They also don't have the frizzle gene. The frizzle gene is dominant. If a bird gets a copy, it expresses it. If they had the frizzle gene, they would have frizzled feathers.

So unfortunately all those two are are smooth feathered silkie mixes.

Ugh, hate it when breeders just tell you shit then. Thank you!!
