silkie rooster checklist

I want to keep a b/b/sp pen, a white pen and a buff pen. I was taking inventory of my oldest group. It looks like I have 2 pullet splashes, 1 cockerel splash, 1 blue pullet, 1 white pullet, 1 white cockerel and 5 black cockerels to chose from . I have a second and third set which are younger and can't be sexed yet.

The Black roo over the splash pullets will give you blue.

Splashx Splash will give you Splash, however, it will dilute the color.

Personally, I would go with a Black Roo.

Sorry about that hawk getting your bird!

We were just discussing hawk probs on another thread earlier today. Someone was saying that the hawks are extra fiesty & brazen right now due to needing to feed their chicks, so you may want to be extra careful. 2 months ago I had a hawk try to grab a chick as i sat on the ground with the flock all within arm's reach! Here's a link to the thread:

How do you keep the splash from color diluting? What should you breed to get good slashes then?

You have to breed Blue to Blue, as Majestic stated. That will give you the darker splash colors. Splash to Splash will give you light Offspring. Black to Splash will give you Blues.
