How can you tell? I figured with our neighbors loud rooster crowing next door, if it was a roo he would be following suit with crowing by now. Doesn't act like a rooster either.

Hi everyone, new to the site! I have a 6 month old silkie that I'm still not sure of the sex. She/he has not crowed at all. Is very very sweet and will sot in your lap all day to be petted. Is in the pen with 4 other hens. Said chic has not laid an egg yet either. At what ages do they usually start crowing or laying? This is my first silkie, and I already love it! Not pampered at all..lol Hoping its a hen! I know they are hard to sex till they get older. Well my sweet little supose to be a hen, start crowing this AM, so i guess I am on the search for another hen or a few chicks. Anyone know any black or dark colored silkies available near central Alabama?
