Silkie Sexing!!!!!!!!!!

Those babies are too young for streamers to have developed. #2 may just be barely starting to get some, but it could simply be crest feathers. Sreamers grow from the BACK of the crest and neck.

#1 looks pulletish, #2 cockerelish, but not placing bets this young.

Does it make a difference that even though they are the same age number 2 is bigger then number 1?

My oldest silkies are about 4 months and I am pretty sure about the sexes now. The boys tend to be bigger and sometimes broader in the shoulders. The streamers are pretty good but I have a splash boy who even yet doesn't have real pronouned streamers compared to the other roo. Mostly when they are young I can sex by attitude. The boys seem to be a bit more assertive or pushy. They are the first to the food and usually more into exploring. But even that is not a hard and fast thing. But when their boy hormones start working and they are crowing and chasing the girls - then it's pretty obvious. And on occaision I have had to wait that long,

Yes number 2 in the pic is definatley showing leadership type qualtities he/she even walks different so I was thinking roo...We have 3 silkies and they all stick together out of the 9 chickens we have....
