Sometimes even then they will fool you. Everyone wants to know what sex their Silkies are as soon as possible. This breed is just too difficult to sex at a young age. Be patient.Sizhasasilke - your chick is still only 4 weeks old. You need to wait at least another 4 weeks, maybe double that.
Do hens flare their hackles at roosters? and do roosters flare their hackles at hens?
Yesterday I saw my blue silkie (gender unknown) flare her hackles at a known hen. I've seen hens do this to each other and I've seen roosters do this to each other, but I've never seen a hen and a rooster doing it to each other.
Any thoughts? Is my silkie a female?
both sexes will flair and bump each other, doesn't matter M/M, M/F, F/F
