Hi Danielle27, they both look like hens to me. My silkies were born May 27th. The Roos have all been crowing for 3 months or so. We also got our first egg yesterday. If you haven't had any crowing, I would expect eggs very soon. Good luck!!!

He is growing up so quickly! I was wondering though, is it normal for a silkie to have such big wattles? He is about three and a half months old, and suddenly the wattles and comb became very pronounced.
Yes, most definitely, for a cockerel.... They almost seem to baloon in overnight..
Here's Batman at about 4 months old:

He started crowing a week later lol![]()
Oh thank you! And Batman is both an amazing name and a nice looking roo!![]()
Definitely a CockerelWe have a silkie that is 24 weeks old and we'd like to know what gender it is. The characteristics of being a rooster are - crowing (we read that some silkie hens crow), dancing (showing off), grabbing others by the back of the neck, and having a giant "brain". hen characterristics - small trangle wattles, puffball tail, we also have a silike that is a roo (same age) but it does not hold its self the same way.![]()

Help! Boys or girls? The white silkie "Beaker" is about 19wks, the buff/partridge "Toffee" is 16wks, as are the two other partridge silkies "Caramel" and "Chipmunk". None have started crowing...yet. LOL Thanks!
