Sorry I cant help you with sexing :( At this age and these pictures I just dont have a clue. Wow, what a difference in size! I would agree that there are other problems. I actually hatched a chick with the same problem you are talking about and it didnt do well with the splint either. Mine died after a few days. I dont know why, it was eating and drinking but the leg was not usable and it would lean on the side of its tub to get around
My tiny chick was to the point that it could barely get up so I made the decision this morning to euthanize it. I couldn't stand to see it like that anymore and it had to be suffering at this point. At first, after I took the splint off, it could do pretty well hopping, but now it just seems to be laying on its side. It has slowly just kept going downhill. At this point, I see no chance of having some degree of quality of life. I don't think most people would like to live like that either. I gave it all I could! It was free because of its leg and I just took it to see if I could do anything to help it.

If I go into the store and they have chicks like that...injuries...I always take them home. Another person...I don't know who...does the same thing. Just can't stand to ill animals down.

I know it is still too early to get an accurate answer, but I was wondering if anybody would like to take a guess at what gender they think these chicks may be. Not the best of shots, but it was their first time outside so they really didn't want to sit still for picture time. They are Silkie/Cochin mix (Sizzles), and six weeks old as of today.

I'm not sure if they are boys or girls, but this picture is A-DOR-ABLE! You've got to love those fluffy silkie butts!

Thank you! I suspected they are boys, or atleast one of them. Especially since I think one is trying to crow already
