I have acquired two silkies and I noticed that one will shake its head every now and then and makes this sound kinda like a cough but it sounds sorta thick like mucous. I did see one time that he kept scratching so I went ahead and dusted the area in case this is a mite or something like that though it could simply be her grooming. The cough is what worries me.
Also when I pick her up and hold her she will struggle and then finally sit still and her eyes will barely close and then she will open them and be fine. It is not hard for her to keep her eyes open and the other silkie was doing the same so I wonder if this is just silkies since they have been quite calm compared to some of my others. I think that there might be a slight amount of runny nose. I mean I can't make up my mind if that is what it is or if it isn't it is so slight. Her crop wasn't as full as the other bird's but she may not have ate yet. I don't know which poop her's is but there is some in there that looks more like cecal poop so I don't know if this is coming form both of them and is normal or from only her. I have given her electrolytes as well. I know that chickens are more prone to getting sick after being changed to a new environment and such and she is only 4-5 months old so.
I just wandered what things I need to do to make sure she gets better. I have terramycin. I judt didn't want to go giving it toher not knowing if that is the best course of action. I would like to hear your opinions and sorry for going on and on but I just keep thinking of more to right. Help appreciated.
