I took some pics today when I let the babies out of the grow-out pen. Now that's a bunch of silkies. Blues, blacks, whites and lavenders...and the one lone partridge that is the only "color". All these babies are between 5 weeks and 10 weeks. The lavender pair are about 14 weeks and there is one black cockerel that is also about 14 weeks. I'm too lazy to go look up their actual hatch date

You'll notice "daddy"...the blue barred cockbird with the cross-beak is just about as sweet a rooster as you would ever see and just is wonderful to all the babies. He lays down and lets them all pile on top of him!!! Such a great babysitter.

aww what a great looking bunch! at about what age did their feathering or what not, start to come in so nicely? i have 9 silkie chicks 3 one week olds and 6 three week olds, but they arent so fluffy!

By 4 weeks they are quite fluffy. It's likely because of genetics. All these babies are from show stock so that could be the difference. They will get their beards and big crests in the next 1-2 months.

What a pretty bunch of fluffies! Congrats!

I so love Silkies, and want to get some maybe next year when I have all my coops built.
