- that smoky white is BEAUTIFUL!

Brody's Bordello: That is exactly what mine looks like. Other than mine is Non-Bearded.

Thanks to all for the feedback on the Smokey/Silver gene. I've been stumped!

I've been advised that they are calling these Pearl, when i heard that I was like"WHAT?" But then I washed mine and was like Oh Yeah it's pearl. I wonder what the APA/ABA would call them? Since Lavender is self blue, would pearl be self white?

The interesting part is the daddy to this guy has the same coloring, not as dark, and he was bred by GM. And others have mentioned that they have birds from him as well that have been breeding this color too. I don't plan on keeping the pearls so will be selling all of them, I like the Porcelain & Salmon better as well as the "standard" colors.

Brody, I put one of my "pearl" boys with a different white female. The chicks all hatched white. Hopefully I'll have an answer to what is it really question with the new black girl I've got in with him.

I talked to Shari at Harvest Breeze the other day, she told me that George was getting Blues and Splashes when paired up with a black bird. We'll see.

I bred mine with a Black and a Blue and the Blue produced two that are Spash and the Black produced a Grey that has white wing tips like a Duckwing, he is young so not sure that is going to be exactly what he turns out to be but I'm definately watching!!! That was the only eggs that they were sitting. I was hoping that the Silver, Smoke, or now Pearl would make some splashing!!

I'll keep everyone posted as they mature. But from what I have produced the Pearl White to White = White on 100% of the Females. Only had 1 Roo and he has the Pearl like his dad.

It really is an interesting color to work with. There are a few people working with it, having some really neato results. I have a friend that has a pearl hen with shading all over. She looks like a white that was dropped in a dust pan. But unlike most of the males I've seen, she is fully shaded pearl over the entire bird. I have noticed that the type on these are extremely good.

I hate to change the subject, but could someone please tell me who the top breeders of Partridge Silkies are?

I should probably have posted under another thread, but I was afraid I wouldn't get the true breeders and not hatcheries of premium show stock.
