Silkie thread!

If you are afraid of being embarrased, go to a show without a bird and just look around.
Heck, enter him, and leave him in the car, go in, and see the competition. So you just lost what, 2 or 3 dollars?
Chicken peeps are great! Don't be afraid, we all have been there once.

Use the show as a learning experience. You will get to see great silkies up close and see up close what the standard looks like. I need to see something to really learn and know. I can read all day but seeing it works better for me. Also, you even might be able to speak to the judge and they could give you tips on what to better in your line and where to go next.

They're all still young... around 4-5 months old.

Thank you! She's still warming up to me. She's a shy girl.
Good luck with your hatch!

Hi there! I'm back and Snow the Silkie is doing well. We finished painting her private coop. Her run still needs some hardware cloth on one side and fencing for the top. This is low budget. Here in Florida, wire fence doesn't last very long so I secure all fences with zip ties so I can change them out easily.

The Japanese writing is the character for "snow". I used bamboo for the roof supports and the gate. We have a stand of it that we hack down for gardening projects periodically. I ordered in inexpensive pagoda to add to her decor. The wind chime makes a lvoely gonging sound and the other two decorations are the sun and moon.

I will need it! I'm going into lock-down tonight and this will be my first staggered hatch.
