Silkie thread!

Time for me to ask about these feet. I sent pictures to peepblessed before the bath and this is Victor after his bath. His feathers have been trimmed around his eyes and vent since I do not intend to show him but I would like him to be a Dad. He is making moves but so far they do not seem whole hearted.

Are his feet acceptable ?

Anyway I love his personality as he is somewhat of a clown .

Thank you, Hawkeye! So you don't think her crest is too small? I think my roo has a bigger crest that her but I think she's awful nice.

If your roo is bigger, I think that would be a great combination! I'd use her! :) But I still don't think her crest is too terribly small.

Get a phone number for the show secretary or superintendant and call and ask. The cages will have been set up at least the day before, so there is probably no reason you couldn't put your birds in the night before. Heck, even volunteer to help set up cages if that is what it takes.

Well, for this show, it works out that my brother is close to the show and doesn't mind me setting my birds up overnight. I have the extra wire dog kennel I'm bringing, so I should be fine. But that won't happen again, I'm sure for the next show. Next time, I will be sure to take your advice and ask about that or even offer to set up cages. That might be fun, too! Thank you for the great tips! My son is going to learn Showmanship on this one, so this will be so fun! I'll post pictures of the show when we come back. It's not this weekend, but next, so we still have a couple of weeks. I'll need to plan on the day before we leave to give the birds their baths. Any other tips on making them look their best??

OH, he's really pretty!! Is that the flash, or does he have gold (red) coming out on his hackles? What color is he? Does he have bars on his wings? Looks like a sweetie! :)
ETA-- I can't answer your feet question, I don't feel qualified. Didn't want you think I was ignoring the question. :)

Hey, Flower, his feet look good to me...but I might not be the best person to say. Are you asking about feathering or toes? Cause in my estimation the toe spacing isn't great but the feathering is good and that seems to be more important. But, again, I'm kinda a noob!

I have a question of my own...how long do silkie roos take after crowing before they can handle the hens? I've got a little white roo (in my profile pic) who is coming along very nicely and just started crowing. He's about five months, so pretty young, but I'm impatient to start using him instead of my barely breedable older roo!

Victor is blue and the color in the pictures is from the camera flash and ambient reflections. No he is not barred but he certainly does almost look so in that picture. In different pictures his color changes according to the light. His color is not one of the things that I thought was an issue. Thank you for the response.

Here is my white cockeral and he is only 5 months old. He has a lot of waxy pin feathers on his head so I hope that means his crest will get bigger. What do you think of him? Is his comb too red?

You can see his waxy pin feathers here.

Dwegg he is an awesome boy,

only fault I see is the comb is too red, I think if you showed him he would have points docked, but I would DEFINITELY keep him to breed. He is very nice overall
