Candling eggs? What's the best way to do this and what do I look for? What's a good sign and what's a bad sign? I have never done this before.
We're planning on hatcing some silkie eggs here at the farm sometime soon. They will be random colors out of some white and black hens, possibly gray and some sort of a partridge lookalike if those two girls are laying, not sure yet. Just pet quality, but we're excited. The hatching process will be a school project for one of our staff members autistic son, which makes it even more exciting. :D
I would like to try candling some of the eggs this time to make sure we get something for the young man. :) Eggs will be under a hen.

Awww....but I love my roo. Sweet as can be and I have heard that a lot from silkie folk about roos.

My one and only, never had before silkie...was told a white or buff..but obviously WAY too early to tell sex; sold as straight run; so my luck, as it turns out,
is not the best, so I'm trying to not get attached..cause it'll prob turn out to be a roo...ugh...
But for now we call "HER" Puffle...

so Puffle is about 7 days old...
