Silkie thread!

That's aweful! I've always got something here for sale. Let me know when your ready & we'll see what we can do. I am going to be selling out of the last of my NB whites. I need to make room for the Salmons so I've decided that the NB one's will be moving on to new show homes. If you like silkies that are a bit more active, then Nb is the way to go. They are very funny and perky, not like my Bearded who basically are lumps. I swear I had one hen that I didn't know if she could walk. Never saw her move, until she went to her 1st show. Then WOW talk about a show bird, she would get so animated, talking, fluffing up. She had that look at me attitude! And she sure won enough to prove it, we used to joke, to everyone about good ole Pompom. I really miss that old girl, she was one of a kind!

What size do you get? I dont know what size to buy... I have babies out the wazoo and need to go ahead and band them.. Ditch the zip ties!

I believe it is size 20. But if you go to the website, it will tell you what size for silkies. They only have one size for the cocks & hens, not like some breeds where you need to order 2. They are big enough to have plenty of room for heavy feathering.

If it's only one size for cocks and hens then it must be a 15.. I copied this from the info page..
Male Female
Cornish and Heavily Feather Legged Breeds I (20) H (18)

All Feather Legged Breeds G (15) G (15)

So do you think yours may be a 15 instead??

That's probably right, I couldn't remember. I guess I could have gone to the site and looked it up:he

I may just have to go that way. Its about time to get ready to seperate my birds again. Right now no one is laying, so I'm not worried about breeding.

Here's my Roo we hatched in summer 2009, this is from his first show last October. He's pretty much girlfriendless right now. I'm going to keep the new frizze showgirl with him to keep him company for now.

If hubby gets back to working and I sell the Japanese Bantams, I will for sure contact you.

Keep or sell? He is a red partridge. Mom is partridge, dad is a nice clear red. Could he be used in a red breeding? He's a sweet guy and I hate to sell him to the great unknown. Do people keep silkie roosters as pets?

I lost my only patridge roo recently so I threw a bunch of eggs in the bator to see if I get any partridge... all the silkies were penned together to simplify winter feeding. I know everyone likes chick pics so here's a few of the chicks I hatched.
