Silkie thread!

They do, but last year, I read many tales of people buying from them and getting little boys instead! Unless you sex them by DNA, there isn't a sure fire way to do it, and you might still wind up with little cockerels.

Basel, perhaps you should just buy a couple of started birds (young adult) and go from there, it would be a lot safer if you can't have roosters.

Oops! And good point about getting a young adult. Would they still bond to me if they were older?
Thanks!

Alright all... I have a silkie chick, it is falling to grow, but it is active, just half the size of its fellows here at a week. It is not any bigger now than when it hatched. It eats, and drinks, has a problem going forward, but it does go forward especially when it wants to get back under its mama. Its head is also shaped a little weird... kinda like... like a baby when it first comes out and the top of its head is squeazed all funny... Like that. Well anyway... Should I give it some vitamins? How much? Should I take a pic? I mean it literally is the same size as when it was hatched 5 days ago...

Totally cute! It reminded me of my little princess. The noise is not distictive to roo or pullet, it's a chick's noise. I have 9wk roos and pullets that make the same noise. Regarless, it is so cute when your birds talk back to you~
Here is my Nugget at 10 weeks. I still need to clip the feathers around the eyes. Hubby has been busy fixing his BMW so I haven't wanted to bug him to help. There is also a video link of Nugget making funny noises. Just wonder if all Roos and Pullets make that noise? Nugget makes that noise a LOT! (Video link -
) Also is Nugget bearded? I think he/she is but not sure.
