Silkie thread!

Chicks are here!!!

I will let them settle in for a bit from their trip and then take individual photos. This is 3 blue, 2 black and 2 splash. And hopefully there is a girl or two in here

This is a Craigslist ad I found today... pretty sure brown is not a Silkie color... Or are they hatching out some rare color and calling it brown?

"i have chicks available today...Sicilian Buttercups,Silkie(black, brown & splash) $3 each,...Silver laced polish & Blue Laced Red Wyandottes $4 each or 4 for $15...Rhode Island Reds $1.50 each (11 total)... call/text Jamie...704-746-1291. can possibly do better the more you buy... "
Oh my!! I'm hoping she means Buff... But obviously she does not know what she has or what they are breeding. I'd stay far, far away from that! LOL

I don't remember if I posted this picture already?? lol
CUTE picture!!!

Hawkeye95, I'm so sorry to hear about your little black silkie, best wishes with the rest of the hatch.

So here's a question based on this information, if I join the two flocks (silkies and other hens), will Lovely likely establish dominance over the other flock of hens, who have no rooster? I have been planning on joining the two groups but was concerned that the silkies, since they are smaller and outnumbered, would get picked on unmercifully. What do all of y'all think?
No idea until you try, but she may. I'd keep a close watch on them and if they are getting picked on, separate them.

Now here are a couple of fun chick pics, just for eye candy;-)
Hey, someone asked!

Yes, obvious splits. I sure hope those grow in later. How old are they? So sorry about that!

But honestly, I would think they would have grown in by now already. You made a great point in how the feathers aren't even growing in the same direction. But your whites are GORGEOUS!

So I have another pip this morning! The other egg didn't make it yesterday-- no internal pip, so it must have died not too long ago, because I can tell it filled the egg. I am giving it some more time before I crack into it and see what happened to it. My luck and I won't get any more black chicks-- they'll all be either blue or splash. Sigh.

Which is FINE.. I just really wanted a black.

I agree with Hawkeye and so sorry! I would really like to see pictures of how they carry their wings. Hard to believe that it isn't evident. Beautiful whites and adorable partridge!!
