Silkie thread!

Interesting because I really did get 2 coloured just like this out of eggs marked "lavender". Is it not possible they are splits? (Carrying 1 copy of the lav gene?) My blues are either much darker (I have a couple that actually look black) or much lighter than this one or splash.

I don't mind if it's blue because blue is what I do but it did come out of an egg marked "lav" so I figured I needed to keep it separate from my blues .....

Is that sand in your chicken coop? It looks very pretty.

Yes, it is.

so excited! This morning I was down playing with the peeps and cleaning out pens and I noticed my sweet little Yang who is a white from paint now has a beautiful spot on her left wing! It is rainy and dreary here, so that was just the spot of sun I needed. Will take pictures later this week, if the sun ever decides to come back out.....

My latest addition - 5 week old lavender Silkie (from Catdance)

I went and got myself a Lavender pullet once upon a time, actually not that long ago. At least it was supposed to be a Lavender, supposedly they came from a breeder out of Lavender marked eggs. All but one chick were the same color. The lightest one that looked to be somewhere near Lavender looked to be a cockerel. So, I picked this one out anyway and brought her home because she was so cute. lol She looks pretty blue to me, kinda like yours.

Bad lighting makes everything look yellow in this picture.. The chick even looks brownish.. This is the day I brought Lila home.

And this is maybe a month ago. Lila is behind the rooster (second one from right). I can't seem to find any better picture where you could really see her real color. That's about as close as it gets.

PoultryPower. I just have to say that I LOOOVE your profile picture!

Is there already a recognised color for Sherbert?
genetically speaking and visibly he is a splash partridge (thank you again SilverSilkie for confirming that) , but I don't think any breed has a recognized color variety by the name though I've seen other breeds with splash partridge... and if I were to show him that is what I will/would put on his card (AOV of course) would it ever be recognized? I doubt it. - or blue partridge would have to be recognized first maybe. I dunno!
