Silkie thread!

Just saw the pics of these birds, and you may be expecting to much. Cock has no middle toe feathering, even if he had in the past, he doesn't at present and you are selling him in his current condition. Hen has tiny crest, not much bigger than a hatchery bird. Again you are selling them as they are now, so in present condition they would not be above pet quality prices. Even birds from two champion winning birds can sometimes not live up to the quality of their breeding, so just because a bird may be from a breeder who does very well at shows, it still could be a pet quality bird.
That's why I posted the question here -- you guys know your SIlkies :)

So, what would be fair for them, do you think?

Shipped eggs take a terrible beating even when packed well. The only way to know for sure it was infertile would be to break it a look for the bullseye. I have purchased many shipped eggs from many reliable breeders and three times I got a zero hatch. One time I got one out of 12. Once I got 14 out of 20. You just never know. Please be happy if you get a few. :)

This may sound silly, but I'm thinking that buying shipped eggs is a bit like buying lottery tickets. Spend only as much money as you are willing to risk losing, hope for the best and if you get a great hatch...then it's like you've won the lottery! :D

95% of what I know about silkies, I've learned from this thread. Of course I had to unlearn some of it too and no doubt have somemore unlearning to do and definitely have tons and tons of learning to do! :)

Maybe you could drop your price to say $40 for the pair, or $25 each. Then maybe someone will take them both at the same time.

I saw your question on the WA page and was going to suggest you ask it here. But hadn't gotten that far yet!
Good idea! I'll do that!

Yeah, I figured I'd find out what the WA market said as well as what the experts said!
