Silkie thread!

I'm a newbie with a white silkie-LuLu and a black silkie - Dakota. They are about 2 1/2 months old and adorable as can be! Wondering if anyone would care to guess their sex. I have read through the threads and think LuLu is a girl and Dakota a boy - but thought I'd get opinions from the pros. Thanks!!

In regards to heat and silkies. If mine are panting, I cool them off. We use a 5 gal. barrel with a tight lid and a slow leak into the sand. They love this wet sand. Also use a window fan. We have low humidity so these methods work well. I feel really bad for those of you who have high humidity. It's got to be really tough. My daughter uses milk jugs frozen with water as many as you need. One for three or four silkies. They give off a ton of cool.

Great ideas, thank you. I will do this. I just came in from setting the mister at the coop door. I like the milk jug idea, do you place them in the hen house, outside, both? I am in a dry climate also, if we have 35% humidity it must be raining....which is almost never, normally the humidity is around 10-18%, western central colorado, very dry here

Also, question about broody hens. I know they will come off the nest for a few minutes a day, but do I need to provide water at the nest for these girls considering the heat is so bad?

I bought these at Atwoods.  Walmart used to carry these, but I haven't seen them at my Walmart in a couple of years now.  I do think I've seen these also at Lowes.  I would call ahead your farm stores and Lowes to see if they have them.  It's called a Cobra stand water mister.  :)  They also have flexible ones, too, but they are more expensive.  These are only $9

That might be okay.  If you don't notice a difference in a couple of days, then I would go out and buy the capsules.

Thanks. Off to track one down while we are in the mid 80's for a few days. My babies thank you. Wish me luck.

Okay here are my ribbon winning girls:
