Ooh good idea! I will try that this evening.I would put all my babies in a clear, big plastic tote and bring them in the house so they could become accustom to peoplenoises. The more you handle them the easier it gets.

Hens dont crow. Not cockadoodledoo anyway. Sometimes nature fools us. I would say its a roo if it is crowing like a roo. Thanks! I am really confused, as I was 100% sure this was a pullet. She fits all the pullet traits, round crest, small comb, pullet attitude, feathered in normally for a pullet, etc. Not to mention the colouring..
Anyone else have any response?
What does split lavender mean? What would the parents of a silkie that is a lavender split be?
That is not a black lav split. CJ doesn't understand this and calls her grays "black lav split". I have no idea why. The true, one and only meaning of black lav split is a black bird
carrying the recessive for lavender. Basically, a black lav split HAS to be a black bird. It is possible that her grays carry lav, but that would make them grays split
to lav NOT black.
Actually, that's true and you're right that hens don't crow. If you've seen any video of hens "crowing" on YouTube, they really don't sound like a rooster, with the typical crow of a rooster. It sounds more like a screech trying to imitate a rooster. But they come close. If you have a "hen" that is doing a pretty darned good imitation of a rooster crow, I'd say it's just a rooster.Hens dont crow. Not cockadoodledoo anyway. Sometimes nature fools us. Not bad for a hatchery chick with the crest and the fluff, for sure! Looks like an awful lot of gold leakage around the chest and hackles, though. Very pretty bird!
