Blue partridge :

Regular partridge - this girl's head is black with bay (red) highlights coming in....underfluff is smokey slate (blue)

My "blue partridge" doesn't look anything like this! Hmmm... I'm going to go take a picture and see what you think! I can show you a baby picture, though... Here it is right after I hatched it:

I thought it looked silver when it was hatched. But it looks really blue now.

there is no set standard for blue partridge, but it should be partridge (pencilled properly) and as blue is a dilutor of black, there should be no black, and also in what I've seen and read theres a certain color scheme to them, light gold with lighter blues, or darker gold with darker blues...its not concrete because as you know its not a standard color, there is no standard for the color and there are different ways to get a blue partridge with different genetic soup mixes.

yeah, I knew it was a project color, but that's about all i know of it. I know I 'accidentally' hatched this thing, too! LOL Okay-- just went out to get a picture, this is what it looks like now: (It was trying to escape and getting ready to fly-- so ignore the crazy poses)

A rooster is such a critical decision in a breeding program and requires a lot of evaluation and consideration based on the girl or girls you plan to use him with. I could not advise you without way more information about their qualities and understanding of your goals.

This girl is another version of blue partridge (a dark blue)

Your girl I definitely consider a regular partridge...atleast just me ;) if anything if you were to show, I'd label her partridge not blue partridge.

Jessy, that second girl is soooo awesome!! Have you shown her yet? I can see my partridge knowledge is really lacking. Maybe because my parti girl is so dark, but I would have thought your girl was blue.

it looks like a genetic oospie that popped out of the BBS pen. according to genetic gurus blacks usually are melanized partridge, and its actually pretty common to get partridgey chicks out of blue pens...so theres an extra gene expressing itself in this guy causing the gold leakage. If you were to breed it to partridge or blue partridge - it would be project worthy for sure. I get chicks similar to this from blue X partridge for the first generation

below are many examples of partridge, and a reminder at how big of a variation is out there....

below is my just shy of 6 month old Titus :)

two pullets (4 and 5 months old) - both Partridge

most of my adult flock, all reg. partridge

Heres a slightly older picture of some of my younger birds (last month) - theres a blue boy with red leakage in the middle...He's weird, and I didn't breed him so I don't know where he come from...in the bottom right is a light blue (she looks lavender) and beside her the only blue partridge out of the whole pile...the one beside her looks bluish, but is a tiny older girl i have who is molting, making her underfluff prominent and making her look bluish than blackish.
