Wow...thats alot of info... I was told I had a black, White, and Spalsh.... is the Partridge the Splash (redish-Nugget) one???

Your photos are so small, it's really hard to tell, but I don't see a splash. Here is a photo of a couple of splash.

hi everyone been awhile since i posted but i was wondering what everyone feed there show silkies i have heard feed laying mash but just add calf manna also feed game bird but what game bird feed the starter or the breeder im just asking what would be the best diet for silkies that are gina be shown in a couple months would prefer things u can buy in 1 bag at the feed store not by one thing here one thing there and so on and so on and not preferably have to mix everyday i know sounds greedy but would like to keep feed simple

I have read a lot of info on what people feed for show and I have never seen anyone that doesn't feed a whole bunch of different things. That may be why you aren't getting any feed back.

The incubator did not cause pink skin, but it could have caused 4 toes. That different variety birds (from different breeders?) argues that that was indeed the cause.

Not from different breeders, this hatch was just from the same breeder but different pens apparently. The buff chick that had weird markings also passed away this afternoon. It was drinking, I saw it once get up and walk to the waterer and drink. I forgot to mention earlier this chick had problems hatching.....
It pipped fine. Then after more than 2 days it hadn't changed so I was worried as it was the last one. I opened it slowly and it didn't bleed so I opened it all the way and removing the top and laying it back in the bator. After a couple hours it was still laying in the shell so I removed it slowly and found why...

The yolk was wrapped around the leg and its foot was swollen.... It looked more like it grew that way because there was no yolk anywhere and when I slipped a blunt needle in down the leg to try to pry it off gently it didn't leak. I finally ended up cutting it becasue it was so tight I could'nt pry the foot out. I put it back in the bator for a couple hours to try to get the rest of the yolk to obsorb and it pretty much did. The rest was dried up today and like I said it seemed ok. It wasn't even that wobbly when it walked it was very allert and active this morning when I gave them some fresh food...... But by 1pm it was barely alive and gasping for air???? Not sure what happened with it but I am thinking probably related?



I have been hatching for over a year pretty much back to back with LG's thats why I have had a lot of ups and down with hatching. But I am getting a lot better chicks from my own BBS and White! The only complaint I really have is that my birds are not sonoran's.... I am very critical and I would say many of mine have nice crests but not the "best". Or a big flaw I see a lot of in the chicks I hatch from my flocks is the top 2 toes have some webbing and the splash cockerals tend to be a little to red in the comb in my book, all the rest have great dark skin and eyes its just the 2 splash cockerals I hatched and kept are pretty mulberry colored in the comb to my liking. I have only delt with extra or lacking toes 1 time..... I hatched these with a reptipro 6000 and it did keep pretty good temps around 100-101. I followed all of the recommendations from other BYCer's who use them. I didn;t really have a bad hatch considering most were clear as in no development from day 1. I only lost 3 eggs along the way.

That is so bizarre that you ordered a specific color and then didn't get it. I wish we could have a rating system here like on eBay. Then you could give sellers ratings and feedback which would help them to run their business better or encourage others not to use them and also get screwed. If you haven't joined the ASBC, then I think you should do that. From there, you can ask around and buy started birds, eggs, etc from more reliable sources. And ask other people before you buy. When I bought my first pair, I talked to 3 other people that had bought from that breeder to be sure that I wasn't throwing away money. The ASBC has a FB page that they use, and a board like this one where you can ask around and get a better feel for who you are dealing with.

I don't like to talk about people. I will never trash someone's reputation unless its serious. And I guess maybe this was but I am still not going to name. This was the worst order I have ever placed and is why I am so hesitant to order from anyone again.....

I originally ordered in January. I requested 12 buff, 8 lav and 4 black. I sent payment for 1/4th as a deposit to get the hatch going and then sent another 1/4 a couple weeks later. So that was half down. and I was completely intending on sending the rest a couple weeks later before they were ready but because of lack of "real" communication I decided to hold off on the other half. I was told this person would have to hatch them and only ships them once they are a little older..... So I expected about 2 months wait.

I communicated a couple times in Feb. but it was always breif replys about this or that.... Well by mid march (and 3 unanswered emails) I hadn't heard anything so I emailed yet again. Got a one line responce, "had some bad hatches and I am out of town"..... It was always something, some excuss and a lot of bad hatches apparently. Well in May I was told there were a lot of other orders ahead of me? Not sure where or when that came in as I was never told this prior but ok whatever.....Good bloodlines I am sure get a lot of request. So in June still nothing I finally sent an email asking what was available to ship right now..... I was hoping we might get something quality enough to take to fair for my DD for 4h. Got a small list with 2 buff, 1 porcelain, and some BBS and white and partridge. I responded and said please send me the buff, porcelain, partridge and BBS to fill what I had already paid for except the white, I want NO WHITE. I think it was about 2 weeks and I finally got another 1 liner, TO HOT TO SHIP..... (That is why I ordered in January!!!!) Ok well I didn't want to push it either if it was so hot there..... and I wait..... The end of June I get an e-mail from USPS my package is on its way!!! I got 8 chicks total all were BBS and I have seen better on CL locally from backyard breeders..... I ended up selling them all as pets on CL and ate about half of my $. My last 2 e-mails didn't get a responce at all..... paypal won't do anything because I paid as "gift". and the chicks were sent express but took 3 days to get to me and they would have refunded me the shipping cost but I have yet to get a receipt for my order. USPS refused to refund me the shipping cost unless I had a receipt showing that I had paid for shipping....

Wow...no wonder you are frustrated. Ordered in Jan and got nothing until June? With little to no communication....thats just shoddy business practice. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.
