Silkie thread!

This little guy was out freeranging with his 'foster mother', got stuck in a briar vine, and got a little scratch on his leg. I brought him up to our picnic table to look him over, our extremely tolerant and docile 'bobtailed' cat decided to jump up with us, and cuteness commenced

The little chick kept snuggling under his arm and armpit, and all along his belly fur. Butler didn't mind, just sniffed the chick's head and went back to sleeping. I think there was some bonding there, because when Butler jumped down, the little silkie scrambled to follow him!

That is beyond adorable! My cats are scared of the chicks :p Silly cats..

yeah- I'm hoping to breed some whites- I'm already going to have lots of blues for splash (unless they are all male). I only have 2 whites, and I think they are both female. Well, I also have a white Showgirl male; but I don't really want to get into raising Showgirls (not that I don't like them, just no space for them all). I'm going to have TONS of blue!!

Thanks! Pam

He does Cali Chick! I would love to have a splash hen someday...that being said I'm sorry about not listing the age...Mohawk is around 3 months old. I can't remember what was most likely the mix on this chicken to cause the pinkish peach skin tone and beak?
Cinders, at 3 months it is still hard to determine gender of most silkies. And, with some silkies it's still difficult to tell at 6 months!

One of my 6 month old blue silkies crowed last week and one of them layed a first egg on Thursday. So I thought I KNEW the genders of them both. But, yesterday I watched my blue silkie lay her egg (picture below). It is the third silkie egg we've gotten in 4 days and they are so cute and perfect. OK, ARE YOU READY FOR THIS??????? WHEN THE SILKIE TURNED AROUND, IT WAS THE SILKIE THAT CROWED!!!!!!!!!!

Neither of them have streamers and I've heard of hens crowing, but I'm still in disbelief!

When Bullet (we might have to go back to calling "her" BB) turned around I was like, "Hey, you aren't supposed to be laying eggs!!! Did you two switch places or something?" I'd be thrilled if they are both girls. Even though I got the picture and everything -I still need to make absolutely POSITIVE that it is Bullet/BB by watching BB lay another egg! I'm actually thinking about putting lipstick or something on BB's vent and see if it is transferred to the egg. (I read about that on another thread to determine WHO is laying the mystery egg.)

Here is the picture I took right after the egg popped out of my "cockerel" Bullet!
