I''m not sure if this is correct even for all breeds. Mine aren't mature yet, so trying to keep an eye on it as they mature and see if it is true.

The hen looked like she will make a very nice breeder....the roo, couldn't see him very well. They are not mine. Yet. But they look nice to me. Real nice... Wanted opinions.
I love Pomeranians! I always wanted one, just never worked out that way.. And now when I actually could go and get myself a dog, I can't have one where I live.Yes, there are different shade of Partridge. I have a buff partridge and a blue partridge. They, to my eyes, are quite lovely. Although I would REALLY love to get a red partridge. Just love the vivid colors (I am a big fan of the Sables in Poms too).

I don't know but that's pretty darn cute.
I just wasn't sure if chickens were like horses in the way that they use their entire body to communicate. I watch my horse all the time swish his tail, pin his ears or stamp the ground to figure out what he is thinking, I have a soft spot in my heart for "special needs" critters, just looking at my dog, husband and Ms. Rumpy makes me realize that! (I love you Joe! lol)I don't know but that's pretty darn cute.I can't imagine that it would affect the quality of life if they don't have any tail feathers?![]()
I've worked with horses most of my life so I know where you're coming from.I just wasn't sure if chickens were like horses in the way that they use their entire body to communicate. I have seen my new SG roo "swish" his tail and the little girl he was with came running and took a cricket out of his mouth, didn't hear a sound or anything. So, they may serve a purpose... I'm not sure though. When she is with the flock of silkies she seems to hold a middle rank over the other younger birds, so I guess I'll just leave well enough alone, as long as she is happy and healthy I will just keep enjoying watching her be an awesome surrogut mother!I've worked with horses most of my life so I know where you're coming from.I've had my Silkies for about 2 years now so I'm still learning. I'm just trying to figure out what the purpose for the tail feathers would be to begin with? Nowadays, people breed for looks (same with horses) and you see all these amazing tail feathers on certain breeds. Like a Phoenix rooster. I can't imagine tail feathers like that would be practical out in the nature..other than attracting females maybe? lol![]()
What is the purpose for the tail feathers on a chicken anyway, does anyone know??![]()
