Silkie thread!

How much would you pay for this pair?

I recently got a little Lavender split, but he/she is somewhat of a partridge color? Actually reminds me of a blue partridge coloring. I also have a lavender split black hen, beautiful girl. If the Lavender split with the partridge coloring is a roo, what kind of offspring could I expect? Can they all go in a Lavender pen or will the partridge colored Lavender split throw in a monkey wrench?

Also, I was talking with my Father in Law (he has no experience with silkies) about one of my silkies with undesirable wings, the feathers don't seem to fold under properly. He suggested plucking the primaries and giving them a chance to regrow??? Has anyone heard of doing this? The thought of it just was upsetting.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong! Aren't there different shades of partridges. Some are darker than others. There must be names for all these different partridge colors. Like the silver partridge (gray) peep already mentioned. I have 3 partridge chicks, about a month old now, all from Catdance eggs. They're all different colors.

I'm glad you know.

I have a chick with pretty much the same coloring growing up, came out of a Paint egg. lol Karen herself said it was a partridge when I sent her a picture. I can't wait to see what the chick will look like when he/she gets older.

Maybe I didn't explain my self at first but exactly what you said I was looking for a name of color.
I knew it had partridge in it cuz of the markings but he has black and gray/silver so like peep said more likely a silver partridge.

I posted this elsewhere on the site but didn't get a response so I'm trying here:

I just adopted 2 3 month old silkies. The original owner told me that there was a male and a female. Based on their antics alone, I'd say she's probably right, but when I asked her how she was able to tell her answer was completely new to me.

She told me that if you pull out the male's wing and look at the end of the wing bone there will be an extra "piece" that sticks out. It's got feathers on it and looks comparable to a thumb or extra tiny stiff bunch of feathers. She showed me the pullet and it does not have that. I thought it was interesting to say the least and after I brought the cute guy and gal home I sat down to investigate. But I can't find this information anywhere! Has anyone ever heard of this?
I've heard something similar about wing shape, but was unable to find anything online to further investigate this. I was told the males wing was more curved at the end, and the females straight when you pulled the wing out and looked at the profile of the wing feathers.

That's interesting, I'll have to compare my young pullets and roos, and take a look at my young ones. I wonder what the % of accuracy is?
