Silkie thread!

Oh lord that's what I am using is an LG I had it running 3 days before my eggs came in the mail. I have been fighting with the temps since. I think I got it stable now but I keep a close eye on it I bought 6 but they sent 12. I did a quick candle tonight and only can see growth in 7 of those 12 but its still so early on those. My Hatch day is the 28th.

The day you set them counts as day 0 right? I gotta double check my notebook for my hatch date for sure. I set some late one night and then the rest the next day (within 24 hours) so I'm going off the last ones set for my hatch day. Sound right? I figured the first group turning an extra 8 hours was less of a deal versus the second group not turning for long enough.
I swear if any of those first ones hatch it'll be a miracle! The ones in the brower I'm trying to not break any rules with lol

Gotta hatch first! After my rocky start who knows what's gonna happen, I could just scream at myself for not calibrating my thermometer!

I figured since it was a meat thermometer it would be accurate, yeah right! Accurite you stink!

FWIW, when I was ill at the beginning of last week, I could not find a thermometer, and ended up using a meat thermometer to measure my temp. In short order both DS and DH acquired real health thermometers for me. I was still ill, but am about 95% now.

I have had eggs hatch up to a full week late. It is never "over" until it is over.

LGs are a little finiky. They key is to keep it in a room that has a consistent temperature. I keep mine in my bed room, at night it will drop to 98.8 i will put a blanket over it and i just got to remember to take it off. Also if its still air its okay to run it a little more hotter.

Question: I have 10 2-week old bantam blue silkies. Once they're grown, does anyone know what the lowest temp is that they can handle? Can they handle blizzards and below-zero weather? What about 100-degree weather (as long as they have shade)?

I thought I researched this but can't find my notes.

Thanks.

Ya know I feel like a more accomplished just from figuring the darn thing out! We got refrigerated air installed in our house yesterday (in the desert most people don't have it) and I did notice a difference with the LG's temperature. The Brower dropped temps too. I pulled some beach towels out of the closet and made the Brower a jacket with hair clips and snuggled the LG's back side and half of the top in a towel. There's a gap where the lid fits on the LG in the back idk why but covering the gap helped. I added a computer fan to the LG and it helped it a lot except when the room temps fluctuate.
