I need advice on cleaning him up. I am planning on giving him a bath sometime this weekend, not sure why as he will probably just get dirty again!! What is the best way to bath them? Like a cat or dog or are there tricks to it?

Bad Fred!

He sure doesn't look white anymore

Last time I washed mine, I used Dawn, followed by Sho Sno (thanks Hawkeye

) which is a whitening shampoo (leave 2 minutes). The result was amazing. I put her in my kid's tub

and she was very calm. Make sure to rinse well. I used my blow dryer (not hot heat) and that's it. Just be careful he doesn't get water through his nostril or put shampoo in his eye (you can use baby shampoo tears free for the crest too)

most people put them in the sink filled with warm soapy water, I like to use the sink hose and put the shampoo on straight. You can use just dawn or you can use a dog shampoo, whitening works best for whites. But nothing with tea tree oils or that is tearless those are bad for them. I just gave my polish a bath in fact. After rinsing the soap off rinse him in water with a little apple cider vinegar, it will cut through any remaining soap and moisturize the feathers. I prefer to blowdry my chickens(on semi-warm, not too hot) after the bath but many people will just put them in a pen with shavings and a heat lamp to dry off. Just make sure they stay warm while they are wet. and don't get water up their nose or soap in their eyes.

First time I bathed my chickens, it was a couple years back in the summer time. I stuck the silkies in one of those 5 gallon water buckets for horses. lol I had one for getting them wet, one for rinsing after soaping and another one for a rinse to make sure all the soap was washed off. It was a pain in the butt but at the time that was the only way to get them bathed. Wasn't about to put them in the kitchen sink, had no bath tub and the bathroom sink wasn't big enough.

I just used regular baby shampoo.
Now I live on a large farm and we have this nice BIG sink in the barn where I bathe any chicken that needs a bath.

Remember to be careful with those blue/purple shampoos for whites. When you're scrubbing it in the feathers (same goes for any animal hair), make sure you get it all scrubbed in so that the blue/purple color dissapears. If you leave it on for too long, it'll stain.

How many eggs should i let my hens sit on??? need help on this by morning thanks.

I just gave mine 10 eggs and she hatched out 8 chicks last week...

Took a couple of pics of the chicks and one of my roo.  I know he is pet quality but I still think he is beautiful.

 Darkness

First one is the Porcelain, Partridge, Black or B/S, and then the Buff

There is my Lavender standing there looking beautiful :)

I just love my chicks and my 6 month olds.

Cindy...he is beautiful...so handsome...funky comb but very handsome boy....and your unruly teenagers are beautiful as well...looking forward to seeing them grow

I think the activity of scratching around for it keeps them warmer than the actual scratch does.
Try warm oatmeal. That is the best way to warm 'em up!

I give mine warm oatmeal when it freezes or snows...they love it...and it's cheap and easy for a treat....

Thanks for the egg color info! She just may be sitting on her own eggs then! I have a sultan, a showgirl, and a marans roo in with my girls so i am hoping the showgirl is in these eggies :D
