Hi All...I have a 7 month old silkie that just started laying last week. The first 4 days she laid everyday then she skipped Friday, layed Saturday and hasn't laid since...my concern is that last night she didn't sleep in the silkie pile like she always does..she slept alone and this morning when I took their meal worm treats out to them...she was just randomly pecking the air instead of getting the treats like she always does from my hand and yesterday she didn't come out at all for treats...it concerns me because she has never acted that way...none of this started happening until she started laying. Is this normal behavior? Just concerned about her!! Let me know your thoughts!!

Certainly keep an eye on her eating, drinking poop, seeming lethargic... etc. I never like changes in behavior. My partridge girl was very irregular about laying since she started a couple months ago and she just quit now. No other problems though and think it is just her reaction to the time of year.

Silkies don't normally lay in the winter.

My first silkie started laying early January. She laid three eggs and than stopped until late February.. Then continued laying until she went broody. Usually two days on, one day off, then three days on, one day off. There would be the occasional 5 egg span and two days off.

Yay. I have some Catdance silkies that I hatched. They are all fluffy and cute. You will be so happy with them.

Crazy silkies.. Took a good inch of snow before they finally decided it wasn't so much fun to stand out in the terrible weather.

What colors ??? How many ??? Yay for you

Assorted- blue/splash pen, lavender, porcelain, white (?) black and paint hens not laying at the moment, and I hoped for no partridge ( don't like them enough to make a separate pen). I don't think she's going to send those. I might be missing a color here. Looking forward th porcelains!
