Silkie thread!

Assorted- blue/splash pen, lavender, porcelain, white (?) black and paint hens not laying at the moment, and I hoped for no partridge ( don't like them enough to make a separate pen). I don't think she's going to send those. I might be missing a color here. Looking forward th porcelains!
One of the thingsI love about Silkies is all the colors to choose from lol! I love all of them really but Black and Partridge are my favorites and though I find myself saying I dont like the whites as much I always end up loving them lol! Now i have my beautiful Blue pullet Im sure I will have to add blue to the list :)

Thats what I DON'T like about them! It's so hard to choose just one color to love cuz they are ALL too adorable! I'm still trying to choose which colors I want when I end up buying eggs from someone here. Or at least which to keep! I like looking at 1-2 colors. A mix of a bunch of colors of chickens looks messy to me!
lol

There is something serene about the turkeys in the snow though. My tom just gleamed!
Love that picture

Well, I put the chooks outside, and made them some warm oatmeal. LF's love it, Silkies do not. I haven't found anything to get them to eat much! They are too light for winter, not eating much. Tried lots of food, lots of additives that I've found on here, no go. I still need to try applesauce. They are on game bird feeder with little bit of scratch. Frustrating!

It IS hard to choose i know. I guess I was lucky that my preferences were formed many years ago and i havent changed my mine in spite of all the new "project" colors. I can see down the road settling on two or even one color. I have a pretty small scale breeding program in mind so the less colors the better. I dont think I am up for a project color at this point so just eliminated those colors from my choices though some of them are beautiful!!!

Mine are loving yogurt with raisins and rolled oats mixed in. If you havent tried that already :)
I also think the thing that helps with mine is I have one that is a pig (my avatar) and she really digs into everything with gusto. The others arent about to let her get more than they do.

Mine eat flock builder and they do like fruit and veggies... I also make them muffins with fruit and veggies in them .. topped with freeze dried meal worms .. mmmmm :) Mine also get a tiny bit of scratch.. used it to teach them to come in the coop when i want them in ! I give them something like this a couple times a week. they also like rice, I keep giving them cheerios but so far they just push them around. Mine wouldnt eat oatmeal either... I sometimes hang the goodies in one of the little bird block cages, fill it with cabbage grapes , apple tomato etc and they love to eat out of those.
