Silkie thread!

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a couple of nice Black Silkie boys. Does anyone know where I can find any? I live in Vermont so I would either need someone within driving distance or someone that would be willing to ship when the temps are right.

Thanks:)
Sensational Silkie by Blake has 2 for sale that I know of. I think she is PamB on BYC. I have a blue roo from her....lovely bird.

So it would probably be fine to show him(crest will cover the comb), but they probably shouldn't breed him right?

Sonoran and Dragon have more experience than I do...i think they would be better to give you an opinion.

How soon can one tell if their Silky is a hen or roo?

It can take 5-6 months or more. Often, the better quality lines take a long time to develop and mature.

So my DW finally settled on names for her Silkies. Black boy(Kung Pao), Blue boy(General Tso), Buff not totally sure on sex(Teryaki), White girl(Parmesano), and Partridge/Porcelain girl(Marsala). She thought it would be fun to name them after chicken dishes. The EE pullet she named Peep so when she has chicks she can name one Repeep. She is a silly woman, but I love her.

Ooo You need an Alfredo too.

We have a theme going on in our smooth sizzles. They are named after McDonalds hamburgers. So far we only have two smooth girls, and they are named McChicken and McDouble. Mainly because they look like one of our first chickens we had named McDonalds. So they are named in her memory.
