Silkie thread!

I don't think I've asked this yet... my silkie is sitting on 1 egg since last tuesday, so 6 days ago. if I give her more eggs today, if the first one hatches, the others won't hatch for another 6 days... will she give up on them? or should I just put these in an incubator instead?

Black is not likely, although certainly possible. In general, silkies tend to be e^b based. So partridge or grey is more likely, but still far from predictable. Yes, dominant genes display, but only f they are present.
now i'm confused too haha. I think I will buy the poultry genetics book, worth the money!

And Mulberries are healthy to eat ! We had a mulberry tree and I put the berries through a strainer and drank the most taste juice. yumm
Not to be confused with pokeberries, those are poisonous

. But also chokeberries are safe and healthy!

I believe she would leave the eggs to care for the chick.

Went out to the chicken yard yesterday afternoon, because the chickens were raising such a commotion I could hear it inside the house. I found this adorable baby stumbling around peeping and shivering. I have three hens sitting on nests so I don't know which one it got away from, but it somehow made it's way over the lip of the carrier, all the way to the doorway, fell out into the yard, and was out in the middle without any possible mothering going on. But boy they were hollering about it. I didn't notice any other peeping coming from the setting hens.

I brought her inside the house and I quickly got my little purple pet carrier ready for it's new occupant. I really didn't think she would make it through the night. I hope I am not jinxing myself by posting her picture, but boy is she a little darling.

I soft boiled her an egg and she actually took a bite and swallowed it and put electrolytes in her water. I haven't gotten any water down her yet. I don't know how old she is, I am guessing a day. She was completely dry when I found her.

Please keep your fingers crossed for her guys!!!!

She has already got me wrapped around her little toes!

love mulberries...yum...that's what silk worms eat...
Did anyone else's silkie chicks run away from them
I have 11 in the brooder and they fling themselves around when ever I put my hand in there like i am about to lite them on fire...silly chicks...they do calm down and learn the hand means food soon....keep trying
Should I wash my four chicks because I just got them and they might have fleas?
I would not think the chicks would have fleas? I have not heard of that...I would think it would be easy to see any lice ect on a chick if they had them...
