Silkie thread!

LOVE! Does she wear a diaper? I want a house chicken but my fiance won't let me...

She does just not in these picks.
Hi Everyone. I know it's been forever since I've had time to post and I'm sorry. Life has been a blur this past month.
PLEASE HELP...
I have an emergency and need some quick advice: One of my silkie chicks (4-5 weeks old) has a very twisted neck. The first I noticed symptoms was last night and I just thought she was looking at me sideways (like chickens sometimes do). However, this morning her neck is almost upside down. I'm so sad and frustrated for this helpless creature and don't have a clue how this happened. The LF chickens free range but these babies are in a tractor surrounded with 1/2 inch hardware cloth........Some of my LF chickens will try to peck through the little holes if given a chance, though.
-Is this condition cure-able?
-What can I give the chick to help it? (Prednisone, Vitamins?)
-Should I hand feed and water it? I don't think there's any way for her to get her head in the feeder and waterer?
-Is it contagious?
-Should I keep it isolated?
Any suggestions will be helpful

My friend's silkie just had this and she is almost 100% now. She was REALLY bad, head was dragging on the ground and completely upside down. She gave Poly-Vi-Sol without iron 2-3 drops 4 times a day and it worked really well. She also gave it a cooked egg yolk

I had a hen do like that gave her meds for a couple months she still has it sometomes she looks good though and other times she just flops over idk...i just hope she starts laying again soon...

Hi All,
I need some advice from you Silkie lovers with more experience! I am pretty new to Silkies and I hoping you guys can give me some much needed advice. I have three 7 week old Silkie babies and I know they can be sort of challenging to sex. I would ask you guys for your thoughts and comments on these three. Please be truth full, I need to learn. You won't hurt my feelings :) I would like your thoughts on type, color, and sex. Here they are:
#1 (Blue or Black?Pullet??)

#2 (Blue/Lav?Roo?)

#3 (Buff Roo?)

Thanks so much for looking!!

#1 Is blue, looks like a cockerel but it's near impossible to tell until closer to 3 months.
#2 is also blue but a lighter blue, like my Icelynn(pictures a few back) also looks pullet but again hard to tell
#3 is so cute! Also looks like pullet but you know.
#1 seems to have slipped wings but it's hard to tell by these pics.

If you can get pictures of them standing that would be better, and pictures of their combs and a side profile view, also check their wings for spaces, a large space in between the primary and secondary where the feathers twist away from each other is split wing. When folded, if the primaries fold over the secondaries that is slipped wing.

Sounds like you have a good treatment going. I had one chick that could only look down. I did Pedialite and Vit E(2 drops 2x a day) for 2 weeks. And now she is perfectly normal chick and can look up. So it can be corrected

Hi I had a showgirl that would put his head between his legs and back up, fall over and hold the head in a crooked position. what I did is took vitamin b complex liquid vitamins, a vitamin E 400 ie gel cap, and a little bit of cod liver oil I did drops in the mouth 3 times a day morning , noon and night. I also did scambled egg and soaked chick starter, I saw an improvement within 3 days there was less of the episodes. after the first week of this treatment there was a big improvement . then the second week I did the vitamins every other day , with more improvement. after three weeks the chick was tottally normal. drops of vitamin would depend on size of chick. good luck hope it helps.
